Rare Silver Amulet with Five Etched Figures and Hanging Bells, Northern India - Rita Okrent Collection (C680)

Reserved: This large intricate hand engraved silver amulet with hanging silver bells is originally from Iran or Northern India. Like many ethnic silver treasures, it traveled the souks of the Arabian Peninsula before it finally came to our collection. It was sourced in the 1980's or early 1990's, but is from the 1930's or earlier.

The amulet has etchings/engravings of 5 figures, possibly in a parade and many floral and leaf designs. It has 6 holes in the bottom center circle which may have been used to attach it to something.

It measures 11.5 cm (4.6 inches) long (excluding dangles and bails) and 12.5 cm (5 inches) across and weighs approximately 134 grams.

This is a very special item.
