Antique Rustic Fossilized Heishi Ostrich Shell Beads, from the West African Trade.
Measurements: Bead size differ: the more round edged strands have smaller beads (4-11mm) and the Mixed Size are a larger range (between 4-17mm). Bead hole sizes are approximately 1mm. Width and hue also vary. Strand length is pretty consistent at 29 inches of beads, not counting raffia.
Condition: Bead shapes are Polygonal or mostly Round Edged, but all are a bit rough around the edges. Overall in good condition, each strand uniquely nice
More details: The use of ostrich egg shell to make these "heishi" disks is a South African tradition dating back 20,000 years. Women still make these beads and string them as they are valued items for gift exchange and are worn in traditional ceremonies.

UPS , FedEx and Priority services via USPS are available for an additional fee.
For China and India, and some other regions, we only use UPS, FedEX, or USPS Priority Express Mail International, due to better tracking and reliability of delivery.
