Antique Silver Hanging Chinese Fertility and Infant Protective Amulet with Decorative Round Carnelian Bead.
From the Chinese Qing Dynasty.
Early 1900's.
Approximately 2 inches tall.
As found in the reference book “Four Centuries of Silver” by Margaret Duda.
These traditional coin silver pendants were used to promote fertility in new brides (in hope of a baby boy) and as protective amulets once the baby was born.
