A Turkish-style amber tesbih with 97 round beads in shades from clear honey and cognac to opaque butterscotch. The beads are strung with a wooden imam and finished with a metal tassel. The tassel has a filigree cap, coiled collar, braided chains, and grape-cluster drops, a traditional Ottoman-style design.

Dimensions: Beads 5.7–6.2 mm diameter; overall hanging length approx. 37.1 cm (14.6 in); bead loop 27.9 cm (11 in); imam and tassel 9.24 cm (3.6 in); total weight 17 g
Condition: 97 intact beads plus one broken bead. A standard tesbih has 99, so one bead is missing, and there is a visible gap in the stringing. The wooden imam has separated at the waist and could easily be reglued. Its lower end shows a small chip. Some beads may be period replacements.

These pieces are glowing! They are so beautiful!!! I picture women wearing them in the sun and imagine how they must have gleamed in their hair. The white ornament surely glinted with sunlight! The ornaments must have moved so gracefully in their hair and with the light striking the pieces. I imagine this was an incredible thing to see! I feel like I understand these adornments in ways I never could have, not having seen them in person before.
