1800's or early 1900's. Foot binding was discontinued around 1920.
Rita bought these Lotus shoes / shoes for bound feet during travels to China in the 1980's in Xian. Check out the episode called "China's Foot Binding Tradition" from the "Stuff you Missed in History Class" podcast.
