Ancient Agate Disc Beads from the Sahara - Rita Okrent Collection (S767)

RARE FIND: only one in our inventory

Early adornment in modern times - a graduated strand of ancient hand-carved disc shaped mixed hue agate beads from the Neolithic period in the Sahara desert.

The stringing holes in these beads were hand drilled with sharp tools.

Amazing examples of early adornment.

Lovely white, off white, bright white, orange brown colors.

Material: Agate (fine grained quartz)
Age: Neolithic period, ca 7000-1700 BCE.
Measurements: 9mm to 22mm range.
