Yemeni Tesbih Prayer Beads with Faux Black Coral Prayer Beads with Painted Silver - Rita Okrent Collection (ANT609)

Brown / black painted clay "faux black coral"  soft prayer beads from Yemen.

Unusual and authentic, but not black coral, with exception of the imam bead/focal pendant and one other small pendant bead, which are black coral. Imam bead has slight damage. One faux red coral bead in glass.

These were likely to have been used as prayer beads and are very useful for jewelry designs.

Circa 1960's.

55.9 grams. Beads measure in 9-10mm range. 59 beads.
