A well-worn necklace featuring 23 antique Ottoman silver coins suspended from a hand-linked silver chain. Coins vary in size and have been rounded for wear on the necklace. A worn hirz amulet — a cylindrical case traditionally used to hold folded prayers or protective verses — hangs from the bottom, with a worn antique teardrop medallion featuring scalloped edges attached below it.

Each coin carries its own decades of handling, visible in the smoothed edges and soft, worn calligraphy.
The hirz amulet adds a layer of protective tradition beyond simple adornment.
A piece like this was made to be worn daily, not tucked away — and it shows.
Provenance: Ottoman period, 19th century
Dimensions: 38 inches (96.5 cm); hirz tube 3 inches (7.6 cm); 138 grams
Condition: Lots of patina and wear throughout. Hirz tube has damage at one end. Coins are heavily worn. Low /mixed silver content.

For China and India, and some other regions, we only use UPS, FedEX, or USPS Priority Express Mail International, due to better tracking and reliability of delivery.

These pieces are glowing! They are so beautiful!!! I picture women wearing them in the sun and imagine how they must have gleamed in their hair. The white ornament surely glinted with sunlight! The ornaments must have moved so gracefully in their hair and with the light striking the pieces. I imagine this was an incredible thing to see! I feel like I understand these adornments in ways I never could have, not having seen them in person before.
