This hand etched antique Sephardic Jewish metal amulet is inscribed on both sides with a blessing for protection and a full recovery.
Provenance: Morocco, 1920's.
This amulet or plaque would have been presented to a person with an illness as a get well gift and then carried with them or used at their home.
Hebrew verse taken from Jewish healing prayer or from the kabbalah. Letters are legible, and words such as Shadai, Refuah are written on the amulet.
Rectangular with rounded top edges. This is brass and metal. No holes or bails. There is some room for drilled holes at the top rounded corners.
Substantial. Measures 60mm tall / 2.3 inches and 4.7 cm /1.8 inches wide and weighs 16 grams.
Good condition. Some scratching and wear particularly noticeable on bottom left corner on one side.
