Large Vintage Palestinian Bedouin Embroidered Purse - Rita Okrent Collection (AA367)

Large vintage green velvet purse made with Palestinian Bedouin embroidery of gold floral and geometric designs. Long lavender and black colored strap. Traditional embroidery originating in Israel, Palestinian territories or Egypt/Sinai.

Embroidery circa 1990's or earlier.

Measures approximately 14 inches /35.5 cm tall and 13 inches / 33 cm wide. Strap measures approximately 41 inches/104 cm long. Good condition. Inside is also is clean and in good condition.

These authentic old Bedouin hand embroidered textile items are harder to find as younger Bedouin women no longer wear them on a regular basis. Even in the market in the Old City in Jerusalem, one finds replicas of them more often then vintage items like these.
