Yemeni Silver Multi-Strand Beaded Necklace with Rectangular Focal Pendant - Rita Okrent Collection (C981)

RARE FIND: only one in our inventory

Large, old well worn silver beaded necklace with focal pendant signed by its Wasabi silversmith.  From the Wasab mountain range area of Tihama, in Yemen. As seen in the reference text, Silver Treasures from the Land of Sheba, by Marjorie Ransom (p. 111).

A treasure for sure.

Condition: Fair/Good. Existing elements are in good condition but necklace is missing closure and one full strand of beads on either side of main pendant, and part of another strand. Strung loosely so will need restringing to be worn as is. 

Details: 20 matching berry beads. Mix of silver content (silver alloy/50 - 80+ parts silver).126 matched round silver beads (hollow, made by hand).

Measurements:

- Weight: 234 grams./ 8.25 ounces.

- Approximate end-to-end necklace length is 15 inches/38 cm. 

Central focal pendant measures 8 cm / 3.1 inches long (not including dangles) and 5.6 cm / 2.2 inches wide.
