Traditional Bedouin Hand Embroidered Purse or Jewelry Bag, with Tassles - Rita Okrent Collection (AA289)

Traditional Palestinian Sinai Bedouin Hand Embroidered Purse or Jewelry Bag, from Israel or Egypt.

Black and purple background with embroidered flowers and fruit.

4 decorative tassles each at bottom and top front and string with tassle for closing.

Circa 1980's or earlier.

Traditional Bedouin embroidered clothing is not as common among contemporary young Bedouin women, who more often wear Western dress.

Measures 13 inches unfolded top to bottom, 7.5 inches across.

Back is gray but has pink stain. Not visible from front. Inside lining will need to be sewn in on one side to keep it in one place.

Beautiful work on this lovely vintage bag.
