Short strand of 7 antique Baltic amber beads, sourced in Mauritania. From the West African Trade.

Gorgeous butterscotch yellow hues. Beautiful natural patterns.

Circa 1800's.

Baltic amber from the West African trade is commonly used among the Fulani ethnic group of Mali in head adornments and necklaces. It is also used as a trade bead and wealth object in cases of need.

Four of these beads have been mended, though work is not obvious. Overall, lovely condition.

Bead size ranges from approximately 16-21mm.
