Strand of 30 Small Antique Carnelian Agate and Bauxite Stone Teardrop Shaped Amulets from Mauritania - Rita Okrent Collection (S494)

A short strand of 30 small orange antique carnelian stone amulets, from Mauritania.

Likely to have been hand carved in India and brought over in merchant trading ships by traders in the 1700-1800s.

These lovely little pendants make wonderful accents for necklaces, earrings, bracelets and all sorts of designs. Could also be used as hair beads.

They are sturdy and delicate at the same time, each individual and beautiful with natural markings.

Shapes vary - some are more flat and some are more round at bottom.

Sizes range but average around 13-14mm in length and 7-8mm width.

Est. circa 1800's or earlier.
