Short Strand of 7 Neolithic Agate Beads from the Sahel - Rita Okrent Collection (S450b)

Ancient excavated stone beads from the Sahel region of Africa. Neolithic era. Many of the stone beads in West Africa were originally manufactured in India where stone bead manufacturing began 6500 years ago. (See more on this in Lois Dubin's book, The History of Beads.)

Sizes vary but range up to 21.67 diameter (largest bead) x 9.32 hole to hole. 24 grams.
