Rare African Antique Black Speckled Hebron Beads, Sudan - Rita Okrent Collection (AT0608g)

Hebron beads were made with dead sea salts and date to the mid 1800s or earlier. Black Hebron beads with speckled colors are more rare and hard to find than yellow Hebron beads.

This short strand of lovely antique black Hebron beads came from the Bead Museum collection via a sale at the Mingei Museum of San Diego, before current renovations started at the Mingei.

These beads would have been either donated to the Prescott/Glendale Arizona museum or collected by Gabrielle Liese, who founded the museum.

Five beads. Mixed sizes, some wear. Largest bead measures 16mm diameter.
