Our Sturdy and Elegant Sterling Silver Clasps are back in stock!
A pair of matching embroidered textile fragments, circa early 1900s, likely salvaged from the hem of a woman's dress given their scale, hand-stitched in colorful silk floss in multiple horizontal bands of scrolling and geometric motifs. The repeating pattern includes interlocking S-scrolls and small floral forms in maroon, green, blue, and orange on a cream ground. Sourced in Afghanistan in the late 1970s.

Maroon, green, blue, and orange combine without overwhelming the design.
Detailed handwork, preserved even apart from the garment it came from.

Dimensions: Each piece approximately 15 inches (38 cm) long x 4.7 inches (12 cm) wide
Condition: Excellent worn condition, with some loose threads and stains around the border.

UPS and Priority Shipping Services via USPS are available for an additional fee.
For China and India, and some other regions, we only use UPS, FedEX, or USPS Priority Express Mail International, due to better tracking and reliability of delivery.

These pieces are glowing! They are so beautiful!!! I picture women wearing them in the sun and imagine how they must have gleamed in their hair. The white ornament surely glinted with sunlight! The ornaments must have moved so gracefully in their hair and with the light striking the pieces. I imagine this was an incredible thing to see! I feel like I understand these adornments in ways I never could have, not having seen them in person before.
