Mixed Ancient Agate, Carnelian, Granite and Rock Crystal Strand - Rita Okrent Collection (S678)

A big mix of gorgeous and useful beads on this long 26 inch strand of ancient stone and cystal beads . Mixed shapes and mixed shades of  carnelian, rock crystal, agate, and early Islamic-era (medieval) glass beads.

The beads on this strand are at least several hundred years old to more than a thousand years old. Many were sourced in West Africa (Sahel), but were likely originally hand cut in India and brought on merchant ships to Africa pre 1900 (ie 1600s-1900). Beads travel!

Large granite bead measures 24x12 mm. Large agate bicone bead measures 23mm end to end. 26 inches of beads.
