Large Bedouin Vintage Traditional Red Embroidered Textile Fabric Piece - Rita Okrent Collection (AA233)

Reserved: Substantial gorgeous Palestinian Bedouin rectangular embroidered textile from  within the Palestinian territories, Israel or Egypt/Sinai. Loops on one end for hanging. Also ideal for  use in making clothing, belts, purses, quilts, etc.

Beautiful embroidery of red peacock / aviary floral patterns on a worn off-black  background with a white lining. NOTE that this is more red than pink.

Circa 1980's or earlier.  Noticeable wear on part of stitching in which color has faded.

Measures approximately 35 inches / 89 cm long and 14.5 inches / 36.8 cm wide. Photos show front and back.

These authentic old Bedouin hand embroidered textile items are harder to find as the younger generations of Bedouin women no longer wear them on a regular basis. Even in the market in the Old City in Jerusalem, one finds replicas of them more often then vintage items like this.
