Group of 7 Round Mixed Sized Vintage Phenolic Resin Beads - Rita Okrent Collection (AT1941)

RARE FIND: only one in our inventory

7 useful and beautiful round old phenolic resin beads from the African Trade.

Variety of sizes and round variations. Two lovely deep brown beads and two beads with patterns. The smallest bead is cross-drilled. Range from 23mm to 35mm diameter. Weigh 99.6 grams - 3 1/4 oz total. Very good condition.

Circa 1940's- 1950's, these beads were produced in Europe for the African Trade, and were made to resemble real amber (especially an issue after access to Baltic amber became limited during and after WWII). These beads are traditionally used as hair beads and worn in necklaces by African women, and have come through Mauritania to eventually land in Rita's collection.

Very collectible. All of these beads would be suitable for use as focal pendants.

Sold as a group.
