Graduated Neolithic Period Red Carnelian Stone Disc Beads from the Saraha - Rita Okrent Collection (S588)

Rich Gorgeous colors on this stunning deep orange and red ancient carnelian bead strand from the Mauritania.

Circa late Neolithic period, which dates from 4500 BC to 3000 BC, from the Western Sahara. These beads were likely to have been made thousands of years ago in India and traded in the Western Sahara by merchant ships on camel routes in the Sahara. Indian stone bead craftsmanship goes back 5000-6000 years. Exact age unknown.

Lovely mix of orange, brown, red and white carnelian and agate mixed stone beads.

Beads range from 9-20 mm diameter. 27 Inches of beads. 120+ beads on this strand.
