Antique Mixed Stone Beads from the African Trade - Rita Okrent Collection (S639)

26 inch strand of antique and very old mixed agate and other stone beads with gorgeous markings.

Likely to have been manufactured in India somewhere in the 16th-18th centuries, and traded in West Africa (on a long camel caravan!).

Larger beads measure up to 23mm hole to hole. Diameters range up to 14mm. 51 beads total.

At least 2 beads on this strand have small chips and there is wear on many of the beads, commensurate with age.
