These beads come from Mali and are likely to be from the Dogon people, who live high in the cliffs of the West African savannah, and make necklaces and jewelry of iron and copper alloy.
The bronze beads on this strand are estimated to be at least a few hundred years old.
This strand also includes a flat bicone stone bead, a granite tube bead and some smaller stone beads.
This is not a wearable necklace as is and will need to be restrung to be worn. The patina on these beads makes them very interesting and there are a variety of useful shapes on this strand, including some beads that seem to be made by connecting two or three smaller beads together.
57 beads total. A very special strand!
