Translucent and White Mixed Old European Glass Beads, Strand, West Africa - Rita Okrent Collection (AT01806)

A lovely strand of graduated antique European glass beads. These beads were found in abundance in West Africa and were worn by the Dogon people, and used for trade in the 18th-20th centuries, these beads may originally have been German or Dutch in origin.

Circa late 1800's to early 1900's.

28 inch long strand with a bit of verdigris on the white beads. 74 beads total. Wear commensurate with age.

Mainly round and rounded shapes. Lots to work with. Bead sizes range from 8-16mm.
