Small Yemeni Silver Hirz Prayer Amulet with Dangles and Chain - Rita Okrent Collection (P906)

Small granulated and decorated antique Yemeni silver Hirz prayer amulet with 4 groups dangles, a chain at the end and two top bails.

Circa mid-1900's. 0.7 inch/16.73mm  amulet only (height), 1.8 inches/46mm including dangles / 16.73mm W, 45.65mm L (end to end).

Weighs 20 grams.

This amulet no longer opens, but could have contained a quote or verse from the Koran. Likely to have been an element in a traditional wedding necklace or dowry, made by Jewish silversmiths.

Lots of patina on this beauty. Small hole at end. Missing two points of granulation.
