Antique carnelian Tuareg Tanfouk / Talhakimt Hair Ornaments.
Niger, West Africa.
Commonly worn by Tuareg women, woven into their hair for decoration, and sometimes as pendants/amulets.
Circa late 1800's or early 1900's approximately. These were likely early editions, made in Idar Oberstein, and later copied and made of glass. These carnelian talhakimt hair ornaments are generally less available than those made of glass.
