Graduated Round Mainly Carnelian Beads from West Africa - Rita Okrent Collection (S443c)

Reserved:This strand of mixed carnelian beads has many small spherical and oblate antique and ancient carnelian beads as well as disk beads and short tube beads. It came out  of the West Africa trade, but was originally manufactured by ancient stone bead makers in India, which has had a tradition of stone bead making since 6500 B.C. These beads were traded to West Africa via ancient trade routes for hundreds of years.

26 inches of beads. This strand has ideal beads for design with a variety of hues and mainly smaller beads that could be used in earrings, bracelets and necklaces. A few non-carnelian beads as well mixed in. Bead size ranges from 5-12mm diameter.
