A large very special ancient focal sized amazonite bead in good condition. Perfect for a special jewelry or artisan design. This bead is rare in its size, color, condition and shape.
Estimated to be over 1000 years old. 47 grams. Length 50.76mm. Diameter - 26.87mm.
Rita used ancient amazonite beads from Mauritania in many of her necklace designs over the years. One of her favorite design materials.
Amazonite has been highly prized in West Africa since antiquity, so much so that it is sold by weight.
This bead is in an excellent ancient condition, but includes some wear and nicks on one side.
