Antique Vert-de-Gris Dogon Tribal Bronze Bell Pendant, Mali - Rita Okrent Collection (P903)

Rare flat antique Dogon bronze bell pendant with decoration and a built in bail.

Perfect for use as a focal pendant. Only one we have in stock.

Measures 2.6 inches / 6.6 cm tall including bail, 1.3 inches/3.3 mm at widest point on bottom. Weighs 31 grams

From the Dogon people, who live high in the cliffs of the West African savannah, and make necklaces and jewelry of iron and copper alloy.

Estimated to be at least 150 years old, but may be much older. A customer of ours tells us that she was told by a trader that “bells" are cups used to house the spirits of the wearer's ancestors.
