Antique Sephardic Persian Protective Amulet with Hebrew Inscription - Rita Okrent Collection (J105)

This rare and very old large bronze amulet was sourced by Rita during her travels in the late 1970s in Iran. It has remained in our collection for a long time as it was never put up for sale.

Translation of this amulet is not complete, but this is what we do know:

. אנא בכח גדולת ימינך תתיר צרורה as translated in the Artscroll prayer book "We beg You, with the strength of Your right hand's greatness, untie the bundled sins".  (asking for pardon from sins from G-d). The prayer אנא בכח appears in the siddur / prayer book also on other occasions and not only as part of the kabbalat shabbat service. אנא בכח is a supplication prayer, in the context of Shabbat is probably said in order to enter into the holiness of Shabbat through supplication that Hashem sees and hears us.

Measures: 3.72 inches / 9.46 mm tall including bail. 2.69 inches/6.8 cm at widest point across. Weight: 30.28 grams.

The bail appears to be a later addition and while the amulet could be hung either way, to read the center Hebrew properly upright, the bail is on the bottom and the hole is on the top. Could be used with an additional jump ring or bail and then with use of the bail to dangle a decorative something from it.
