Antique Kina Shell Pectoral Ornament, Papua New Guinea - Rita Okrent Collection (AA459)

This large Kina shell is an collectible example of those worn as pectoral ornaments by men in Papua New Guinea to indicate status and wealth. These ornaments are now used for celebrations and not for daily use.

Would be great for use as decor or gift. A conversation piece!

Circa late 1800's to early 1900's. Wear commensurate with age.
