The beads on this strand were found in Mali in the region south of the Niger river between the cities of Mopti and Gao. They have been buried for hundreds of years. Eye beads were valued by the Islamic and African societies and people as amulets to avert the evil eye. They make lovely beads for any collector, or for design in earrings or necklaces. Really a very special group of beads.
